  The 6th China-US Innovation Dialogue
  On June 22, 2015, the 6th China-US Innovation Dialogue was held in Washington DC. The dialogue was co-chaired by Wan Gang, Minister of Science and Technology of China & Vice Chairman of the 12th CPPCC National Committee, and John P. Holdren, Assistant to the President for Science and Technology. He Zhimin, Deputy Commissioner of SIPO attended the dialogue and made keynote address. Chinese and US representatives of governmental agencies, scientific research institutions and enterprises attended the dialogue. Under the theme of “protecting IP and promoting sci-tech innovation”, He Zhimin explained Chinese government’s strategy and policy of using IP to promote scientific and technical innovation, and introduced SIPO’s efforts in building its own capacity, promoting IP creation, application, protection, management and services etc. During the dialogue, the two parties exchanged and discussed the topics such as sci-tech innovation strategy, IP protection and smart city building, and reached many outcomes.
  SIPO Commissioner Attended the 28th China-France Patent Mixed Committee Meeting
  On Octobe r 8, 2015 , Shen Changyu, Commissioner of SIPO, led a delegation to France.Shen Changyu and Yves Lapierre, Directeur Général (Chief Executive Officer) of the French National Institute of Industrial (INP) cochaired the the 28th China-France Patent Mixed Committee Meeting.Shen and Lapierre made in-depth exchange around China-France IPRs dynamics, SIPO-INPI personnel training and bilateral cooperation among other topics, and exchanged their opinions on the international IPRs affairs of common concern.The two parties expressed the unanimous intent of stronger IPRs cooperation, to promote the overall strategic partnership between China and France, and provide powerful support to the in-depth development of China-France overall strategic partnership.
  China-EU Workshop on IPRs in Standardization Held in Beijing
  Co-organized by the Treaty and Law Department of Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM) and European Commission, the China-EU Workshop on IPRs in Standardization was held on December 10, 2015 in Beijing. The workshop brought together over 80 Chinese and EU government officials, corporate representatives, and academics, to provide insights in four main topics: IPR policies of standard-setting organizations (SSOs), Competition policies for IPR in standardization, Court decisions involving IPR in standardization, and the way forward for strategic management and policy-making in the area of IPR in standardization.
  Patent Agency Industry Development Mid to Longterm Plan (2016-2025) Preparation Workshop
  On July 13, 2015, the Patent Agency Industry Development Mid to Longterm Plan (2016-2025) Preparation Workshop was held in Beijing. The representatives from Siemens, Tencent, BOE, Sogou and other enterprises and experts/scholars gave active advice based on their own demands and practices, to the preparation of the Plan concerning hot spots of Chinese patent agency industry development. This Workshop would accelerate the issue of the Plan.
  SIPO Lauds Patent Agencies
  The sixth intellectual property rights seminar was held from May 21 to 23, 2015. He Hua, Deputy Commissioner of SIPO, said at the event that service organizations are playing an increasingly important role in patent management. He suggested patent agencies extend their business chains and improve services. China currently has 1,141 patent agencies with more than 11,400 agents.
  Seminar for the 30th Anniversary of Patent Law Implementation Held in Beijing
  Seminar for the 30th Anniversary of Patent Law Implementation, host by China Intellectual Property Society (CIPS), was successfully concluded in Beijing on March 25, 2015. Tian Lipu, president of CIPS expressed at the seminar that, ,the first version of Patent Law of China came into force30 years ago, opened a new chapter of Chinese IPRs protection in new epoch; over the 30 years, the Patent Law is playing an important role in promoting Chinese technological innovation, socioeconomic development, and increasing international competence.The seminar was chaired by Gan Shaoning, SIPO deputy director and vice president of CIPS.
  The 7th National Congress of the China Association of Inventions Held in Beijing
  On May 16, 2016, the opening ceremony of 7th National Congress of the China Association of Inventions (CAI) & the 10th Chinese Inventors Forum, and the 9th Creative Founder Award was held in Beijing.Chinese Premier Li Keqiang made made the remarks in an instruction to the opening of the conference.
  Li Keqiang pointed out that CAI has actively encouraged the people to invent and create over the years , and has made great efforts in promoting sci-tech progress and promoting the spirits of innovation.
  “Currently, China is pushing ahead with mass innovation and entrepreneurship under an innovation-fueled growth strategy, which is expected to unleash the great creativity of ordinary people,” said Li.
  Innovation can nurture new technologies, new industries and new business types to deliver sustained and healthy economic growth, said the premier.
  China’s Invention Expo Focus e s on Patent Commercialization
  The 2015 National Exhibition of Inventions was held in Yongkang, Zhejiang Province, from October 24 to 27, 2015. Co-hosted by the China Association of Inventions and the local government, the fourday event is expected to attract participants from the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan, as well as the Chinese mainland, along with military units, who will display their latest scientific achievements that have both patents and promising market prospects. This year’s national invention exhibition will highlight patent commercialization by organizing matchmaking between inventors and entrepreneurs, said Lu Dahan, secretary-general of the China Association of Invention. Exhibition areas for teenage inventors and young entrepreneurs will be set up and several innovation and IP forums will also be held.
  Patent Information Annual Conference of China 2015
  On September 15, 2015, the 6th Patent Information Annual Conference of China (PIAC) 2015, in the theme of “New Forms of Patent Operation Supporting New Normal”, was held in Beijing. Shen Changyu, Commissioner of SIPO delivered the opening address, he stressed that the rich patent information resources would play a powerful role in “boosting mass entrepreneurship and innovation”..
  Shen expressed that currently China had become a real power of IP, with rich patent information resources, including more than 90 million patent documents, and the number of patent applications was growing at a high rate consecutively, which was the source of patent information database.Meanwhile, China established bilateral exchange relationship with 38 countries, organizations and regions, and managed more than 450 kinds of patent documents. Patent information, as a high value information resource integrating technology, economics & trade and laws, would help decision making, guide technical R&D, analyze market trend, promote industry upgrading, of very high value, and we should make effective use of patent information, to serve and support the new normal of economic development.
  The PIAC hosted by the Intellectual Property Publishing House (IPPH) was held for 5 times since 2010, which served not only as an open international exchange platform for IPRs professionals, but also bridged IPRs agencies, enterprises, and financial community, winning extensive attention and cordial participation of all walks of life.
  National Patent Agency Management Working Conference 2016
  From March 31 to April 1, 2016, the National Patent Agency Management Working Conference 2016 was held in Nanchang City, Jiangxi Province.Deputy Commissioner of SIPO He Hua, Jiangxi Province vice governor Xie Ru, and Deputy Commissioner of SIPO Zhang Maoyu attended the conference.He Hua expressed during the period of the “12th five-year plan”, Chinese patent agency industry recorded fast growth, making contributions to the achievement of phasal objectives of SIPO strategy, and providing a powerful support to the implementation of “innovation driving development” strategy. The coming two years would be the starting point of IPR construction in new situation, and at the same time of mid to long-term plan of patent agency industry development, we should also develop industry plan, enhance system design, improve information disclosure, implement service codes, enhance administrative enforcement, improve exam system, and increase industrial self-discipline.
  The 6th China IP International Annual Forum Successfully Concluded in Beijing
  The 6th China IP International Annual Forum & 2016 Annual Conference of In-house IP Managers in China, jointly organized by China IP Magazine, China Daily IPR Channel and Hurrymedia Co., Ltd was successfully held in Beijing from January 23 to 24, 2016.
  Themed with “IP Route and Strategy: Internationalization of Chinese Enterprises” the 6th China IP International Annual Forum lasted for two full days, with a training program on the second day. It has invited distinguished guests and speakers including government officials, scholars, in-house IP managers, lawyers, practitioners from IP service agencies worldwide and had attracted approximately 400 IP practitioners.
  Either in participants or in topics setting, internationalization has become the most outstanding character of this year’s Annual Forum, which also makes it different from the previous Annual Forums. Delegates from US, UK, France, Germany, Japan, Australia, Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Thailand, Indonesia, India attended the Forum.
