"New Concept" Claiming Damages of One Million Yuan against "New Oriental"

On November 17, 2007, the case brought by Julia Alexander, the widow of the writer of New Concept English, L• G• Alexander, against New Oriental Education Technology Group Inc., was heard in an open session in Beijing No.1 Intermediate People's Court. Based on the grounds of violation of authorship and the interests to the right of authorship, the plaintiff claimed damages of one million RMB against both Xun Cheng Internet Technology Ltd. Co. that uses the courseware on the Internet embracing the New Concept's contents, and New Oriental Education Technology Group Inc.. The judgment of the case was not announced in court.
