On July 26, 2018, a group of delegates headed by Mr. Nelson P. Laluces, the Deputy Director General of the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHL), visited the Japan Patent Office (JPO), and exchanged opinions with Mr. Kunihiko, Shimano, the Deputy Commissioner, and other officials of the JPO with regard to the cooperative relationship between the Offices.

In this bilateral meeting, the two sides discussed the patent examination guidelines and the operations assigned to the International Search Authority (ISA). They agreed to continue efforts toward developing mutual understanding and enhancing the cooperative relationship between them.

The JPO will promote international cooperation with its counterparts in the Philippines and other ASEAN countries, and strive to develop intellectual property environments where intellectual property will be protected appropriately.
