On September 19 and 20, 2018, the 6th JPO-KIPO-CNIPA Joint Experts Group for Trial and Appeal (JEGTA), the 4th JPO-KIPO-CNIPA Administrative Judge Exchange Program and the 4th JPO-CNIPA Trial and Appeal Experts Meeting were held in Beijing, China and representatives from the Japan Patent Office (JPO) including Mr. Toshihide Abe, Executive Chief Administrative Judge of the Trial and Appeal Department, attended the meetings. In the meetings, representatives including Mr. Ge Shu, Executive Director General from the Patent Reexamination Board (PRB) of the China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA) which is a host of the symposium and representatives including Mr. Heum Jeng Kang, Director of the Trial Poicy Division from the Intellectual Property Trial and Appeal Board (IPTAB) of the Korean Intellectual Property Office (KIPO), exchanged information on the current status of trials and appeals, and exchanged views and opinions on how to draft a trial and appeal decision as well as cooperation over the coming years. Mr. Toshihide Abe also delivered a speech on correction of claims in a trial for invalidation at the Trial and Appeal User Forum that was held in the same time period.
