Ceremony for the 20th China Patent Award Held in Beijing

On December 25, 2018, ceremony for the 20th China Patent Award, co-organized by China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA) and World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) was held in Beijing. CNIPA Commissioner Shen Changyu attended the ceremony and delivered a keynote speech. Shen congratulated the award-winning organizations and individuals. He pointed out that the award selection process is an important way to promote high-quality development of patents, demonstrating sufficiently the quality focus, pursuit and efficiency of China's intellectual property undertaking. Francis Gurry, Director General of WIPO, sent his congratulations via video. At the ceremony, CNIPA commissioner Shen Changeyu, deputy commissioners He Hua, He Zhimin and Zhang Maoyu and head of China Office of WIPO jointly awarded the winners. The 30 patent gold awards, 10 design gold awards, 59 patent silver awards, 15 design silver awards, 695 patent awards of excellence and 61 design awards of excellence were culled from 2,281 candidate projects. According to the statistics, from the dates of their commercialization to the end of 2017, the 40 gold awards generated new sales revenue of 83.5 billion Yuan with new profits of 13.9 billion Yuan and new export sales revenue of 18.6 billion Yuan.
