Associations Receive 583 Complaints against Lawyers in November

Legal associations across China received 583 complaints concerning misconduct by lawyers in November, 2018, according to the All China Lawyers Association. Failure to fulfill lawyer duties was the most common misdemeanor, accounting for 34% of complaints, followed by illegally accepting cases or charging clients for their services. Other misconduct includes violation of trade management regulations, unfair competition and leaking clients’ personal information. Lawyer associations also received 56 cases concerning infringement of lawyers’ rights in November, including denial of their rights to meet defendants.
