Talks Held between Minister Seko and WIPO Director General Gurry

On February 14, Dr. Francis Gurry, Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), paid a courtesy visit to the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, Mr. Hiroshige Seko. During the visit, Director General Gurry congratulated Minister Seko on Osaka winning the rights to host the 2025 World Expo, and suggested that WIPO would be happy to work with the JPO to support the Expo, an idea which was warmly welcomed by Minister Seko. On February 13, Director General Gurry met with JPO Commissioner Ms. Naoko Munakata. They discussed cooperation in developing countries based on the Japan Funds-in-Trust at WIPO, IT cooperation, and further development of global intellectual property systems.
