Record in Intellectual Property Disputes

Data from the Shanghai Intellectual Property Administration show that the People's Mediation Committees in the city handled nearly 2,160 IP disputes in 2018, a record high. Of them, 69.4% have been settled. Copyright disputes took the lion's share of the cases that the committees dealt with - about 80.4%. The committees, at various districts in the city, were founded in 2015 and are made up of IP attorneys, retired judges, government officials and teachers.
