The 10th China IP International Annual Forum & 2020 Annual Conference Successfully Concluded

Hosted by China Intellectual Property magazine, the 10th China IP International Annual Forum & 2020 Annual Conference of In-House IP Managers in China was held in Beijing from January 11 to 12.
 
The New Year Forum has been successfully held for ten sessions so far. Themed as "Breakthrough and Upgrade: The Chinese Path of International Development", this session focuses on the Chinese enterprises' innovation and intellectual property development in the perspective of internationalization. The forum is based on the forefront of the industry and fully grasps the development trends, attracting governmental officials, experts and scholars, and IP service agency representatives from China, the United States, Germany, South Korea, Japan and other countries and regions, as well as intellectual property managers from hundreds of companies. Participants for the main forum reached 700, with a total of more than 1000 participants for the Annual Conference.
 
Liu Chuntian, Chairman of the China Intellectual Property Law Research Association, Lin Guanghai, Vice President of the Third Chamber of the Supreme People's Court, and Tommy Zhang, President and Chief Editor of China Intellectual Property Magazine, attended the opening ceremony and delivered speeches. Special invited guest Wang Chuang, Vice President of the Supreme People's Court's Intellectual Property Tribunal, gave a keynote speech in which he introduced the system innovation and rule development of the newly established Intellectual Property Tribunal.
 
At the China Intellectual Property Management Trend Forum, Yang Boyong, President of the Third Tribunal of the Beijing High People's Court, introduced the main situation and outstanding features of the judicial protection of intellectual property rights in the Beijing Court in 2019; Jiang Bo, the Tencent Vice President of legal affairs shared with attendees the current issue of the IP protection caused by Internet technology innovation and his thoughts about the corresponding solutions; Matthew Ryan, Partner of Haug Partners LLP, introduced the progress of US patent litigation and the practical case of PTAB; Hu Huiji, Legal Director of IQIYI's Legal Department, Anthony Brennand, Head of Business Innovation Department of CPA Global, Ma Yufeng, Chief Representative of Shanghai Office/ Partner of Orrick Law Firm, and Eva Liesegang, Partner of Boehmert and Boehmert addressed around topics  "Overseas Rights Protection of Chinese Internet Enterprises", "Digital Transformation and the New IP Era", "The Latest Developments in US Patent Litigation and Its Impact on China", and "German Patent Litigation System in Global Disputes" respectively.
 
At the China Intellectual Property Management Practice Forum, Zhu Ruilong, director of legal rights protection of China Literature, Liu Chan, senior IP manager of SenseTime, Yang Jiejing, deputy director of the legal department of Unisoc, Tao Ye, founder and CEO of Shanghai Bili as well as Yang Xingfang, Chief Legal Counsel/General Manager of Intellectual Property and Legal Department of NewTV, made speeches respectively on the topics of  Innovation and Development of Internet Literature Industry and Related Countermeasures, U.S. export control and intellectual property,  Innovation and IP Protection of 5G in Industry Application, The Value of Patent Investment and Its Main Application, and Legal Analysis of Copyright Infringement in the Applied Market. This Forum was hosted by Wang Lei, Secretary General of the Sina Internet Law Institute.
 
Four parallel expert seminars focused on the current hot issues, “Difficulties and Layout Strategies of Trademark Protection at Home and Abroad for Enterprises”, “How to Protect the Copyrighted Works Generated by AI in the Era of Artificial Intelligence”, “Patent Challenges Faced by Pharmaceutical Innovation Protection and Generic Drug Development under the New Situation”, and “Discussion on Legal Issues Related to Internet Platform Governance”.
 
At the 2020 China Intellectual Property Managers Annual Conference Awards Ceremony, 12 IP managers were awarded as “2019 Outstanding In-house IP Managers in China”, 5 as “Emerging In-house IP Managers”, 10 as “2019 Outstanding IP Management Teams”, 18 as “Outstanding IP Service Teams in China”, 5 as “Emerging IP Service Teams” and 3 as “Most Recommended International IP Agencies in 2020”.
 
On the 12th, The IP Judges gathered together to explore the intellectual property infringement issues and The IP Service Industry Alliance Annual Conference was held to promote high-end IP services for intellectual property.
 
The annual conference ended successfully on the evening of the 12th. Experts and scholars of the industry, legal, political and business individuals, summarized and predicted the development of China's intellectual property at home and abroad, laying a solid foundation for the new phase of 2020.
