Perkins Coie Expands China Presence with New IP Agency

2019/11/22

Perkins Coie has established an IP agency with offices in both Beijing and Shenzhen, as it expands its presence in China.

As part of the initiative, which was announced on November 20, Perkins Coie is also moving its existing Beijing office to a larger space.

The IP agency is licensed by CNIPA and is staffed with consultants and paralegals who have experience in the registration, maintenance and enforcement of IP rights.

Some of the services the IP agency offers include trademark registration and portfolio management services, IP prosecution and disputes before the CNIPA.

Bill Malley, firmwide managing partner, said: “Expanding our footprint into Shenzhen underscores Perkins Coie’s worldwide focus on key technology markets and serving clients in the technology and related sectors.”

Perkins Coie said the larger office space in Beijing will accommodate the continued growth of its roster of lawyers and legal consultants.

The firm’s Beijing office is led by office managing partner Michael House and business partner James Zimmerman.
