Shen Changyu held a video conference with Christian Archambault, the Head of the EU Intellectual Property Office

On September 25, Director of China's National Intellectual Property Administration Shen Changyu and the Director of the European Intellectual Property Office Christian Archambault held a video meeting. Shen and Archambault discussed the progress of the intellectual property protection, bilateral cooperation, and five Office’s cooperation of trademark and design during COVID - 19 outbreak. They signed two Bureau Trademark Information Exchange Protocol and 2021 Annual Work Plans for bilateral cooperation.
 
Shen said that China and Europe, as two of the largest economies in the world, have maintained close exchanges and cooperation. In the field of intellectual property, since the establishment of the strategic partnership between the China National Intellectual Property Administration and the EU Intellectual Property Office in 2012, the two bureaus have carried out practical cooperation in various fields including legal policies, data exchange, information tools and personnel training. This year, even though the cooperation of the two Offices has impacted by the COVID-19 outbreak, the interaction has remained frequent and the strategic partnership has made steady progress. It is hoped that with the joint efforts of both sides, cooperation in various fields will be deepened constantly and provide quality services to IP users of both sides continuously and promote the development of China-EU relations.
 
Christian Archambault said that during the epidemic, China's Intellectual Property Right cause has been progressing steadily and provided the EU Intellectual Property Office with useful experience. The signing of the two documents is significant, indicating that even under special circumstances, the two Offices have maintained a good partnership and more users will benefit from it.
 
It is understood that the China-EU Trademark Information Exchange Agreement is the first data cooperation agreement in the field of trademarks signed by the China National Intellectual Property Administration. The agreement will facilitate the sharing of trademark data between the two Offices and increase China's international influence in the trademark field.
