Jiangsu resolved 1222 cases on IP infringement

Last November, in Jiangsu Province, after the first plenary session held by the leading group of the special campaign on cracking down upon intellectual property infringement and manufacture and sales of counterfeit and shoddy commodities, all relevant departments have worked together and achieved great results. On February 24, 2011, Jiangsu provincial government convened the second plenary session in Nanjing, summarized the lessons learned since the launch of the special campaign and planned for the next phase of work. Vice Governor Zhang Weiguo attended the meeting and made a speech.
Zhang pointed out that, during the three months, the work system of the special campaign was further improved, a batch of major cases were investigated, 1222 cases on intellectual property infringement were resolved and 263 sites were destroyed. Public security organs resolved 250 cases on infringement and counterfeiting and arrested 731 criminal suspects. The procuratorates approved to arrest 34 suspects in 32 cases. Courts in Jiangsu reviewed 17 infringement cases. The use of authorized software in governmental organs was promoted orderly.
Zhang stressed that the special campaign was in a crucial period and needed the combined forces to focus on the investigation of major cases. He required relevant governments to promote the use of authorized software, to explore and perfect an effective long-term mechanism for intellectual property protection and to ensure the advancement of the special campaign.
