According to information released by a mid-term conference on the special campaign in Guangdong Province, administrations for industry and commerce in Guangdong have investigated 7,651 cases with 182.79 million yuan involved since the launch of the special campaign. Song Hai, head of the special campaign and deputy governor of Guangdong Province, required at the meeting that intellectual property right (IPR) law enforcement departments should further promote the special campaign, aiming to make a good start for the twelfth Five-Year Plan and to achieve another big success.

Song highly appreciated that governments in Guangdong have attached great importance to the special campaign and relevant departments at all levels in the province have taken action, cooperated with each other and achieved satisfying results. It was known that during the period of the special campaign, IPR organs in the province have investigated 93 cases, involving 2.942 million yuan; provincial administrations for industry and commerce have dealt with 2,992 key areas, investigated 3,888 cases, destroyed 248 sites manufacturing and selling counterfeit and shoddy commodities, revoked 3 business licenses, transferred a batch of major cases to public security organs with more than 100 million yuan involved; provincial quality and supervision departments filed and investigated 1,612 cases, destroyed 187 sites with about 67 million yuan involved, transferred 23 cases to public security organs; the Customs have confiscated 2,058 batches of IP infringement articles, with more than 12.847 million yuan involved. The Customs in Guangdong, Hongkong and Macao have combined force to crack down upon cross-border transportation of IP infringement commodities.

Meanwhile, criminal judicial departments at all levels in Guangdong Province have investigated major IP infringement cases. The public security organs of Guangdong have launched a special campaign, filed 497 cases, resolved 441 cases, disrupted 64 criminal gangs, detained 734 suspects and arrested 499 criminals. Procuratorates at all levels have approved to arrest 301 criminals in 174 cases relating to IP infringement and manufacture and sales of counterfeit and shoddy commodities and 267 criminals were accused in 131 cases.
