A European Patent Office (EPO) delegation of six members, including director of EPO's chemical industry division Ms. Rosa Clemente, was welcomed and met with by Deputy Inspector of Shanghai Intellectual Property Office (Shanghai IPO) Mr. Hong Yongqing on April 11. During the meeting, Hong introduced to the guests the functions and missions of Shanghai IPO as well as its achievements in intellectual property creation, utilization, management and protection, while the guests explained procedures involved in EPO’s patent grant and challenging and addressed the increase of Chinese applications in Europe in recent years.

The two parties further exchanged ideas on policies to simulate enterprises to apply for patents and communicated on the development of patent agency industry and patent information service platforms during the meeting, which was also attended by officials from Shanghai IPO's divisions of international cooperation and patent management.
