Shenzhen is Expected to Become Pilot City in IPR and Standardization in 2015

In 2010, domestic patent applications in Shenzhen reached 49,430, an increase of 16.91%, approximately half of which were invention patent applications.

In 2010 Shenzhen granted 34,951 domestic patents, an increase of 34.98%.

In 2010, PCT international patent applications in Shenzhen reached 5584, an increase of 46.95%, ranking first in China for the seventh year, accounting for about 45.26% of the total applications in China.

As of the end of 2010, the total patent applications in Shenzhen were 262,051 with 139,063 granted patents and 102,494 valid patents in total.

The invention patent applications in Shenzhen in recent years has been among the top three of China, granted invention patents ranking second for 3 consecutive years and the PCT (Patent Cooperation Treaty) international patent applications which account for 45% of the total applications in China ranking first for 7 years in large and medium cities.

In 2010, High-tech enterprises in Shenzhen realized an output value of 1.017619 trillion yuan, of which the portion with independent intellectual property rights reached 683.243 billion yuan, accounting for 67% of all the high-tech products’ output value, an increase of 35%. By 2015, Shenzhen is expected to build itself into a pioneer in intellectual property rights and standardization, a pilot city in China.
