NDRC handling 200 thousand invention patents during 7 months

"Both patent applications and grants are keeping a sustainable increase. During the past seven months, invention patents had reached 200,000, up 3.9% over the same period of last year, of which, domestic invention patents totalled 62,000, up 50.7%," Zhang Ping, Director of National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), stated on August 25 in a report on the implementation of the 2011 Plan of the State Council for National Economic and Social Development.

As China invest more in science and technology, major national S&T programs have been comprehensively carried out. Indigenous innovation demonstration project progresses smoothly. Based on key enterprises, 96 national key labs and 140 national engineering research centers have been shaped. 56 alliance pilots involving industrial technology innovation, including automobile industry and iron and steel industry, are under exploration. The national innovation-based city pilot program is bound to cover more  areas.
