BIRMINGHAM - Close to 200 Chinese enterprises have come to Birmingham in an annual event to push beyond the "Made in China" brand and promote their own brand names.

Around 185 companies took part in the European Showcase for Brands of China, presenting newly-designed products and advanced technology.

The exhibits include well-known Chinese brand products in the areas of kitchen utensils, house wares, textile and garments, suitcases, toys, gifts, stationery, garden facilities and small electrical appliances.

The European Showcase for Brands of China has been successfully held for eight times since 2004, and has contributed greatly to the cooperation and promotion of the economic and trade relationship between China and the European Union, according to Wang Shouwen, Director of Foreign Trade Division of Commerce Department of China.

Currently, China is the Britain's second largest trading partner outside the EU.

From January to June this year, the China-Britain bilateral trade volume grew up to $25.5 billion, an increase of 16 percent year-on-year.
