Statistics released by the State Intellectual Property Office show that from January to October, patent applications of Shanghai filed under PCT reached 657, following Beijing (6,831 applications) and Guangdong (1,424 applications) and ranking the third across the country.
The city's applications filed under PCT in 2010 amounted to 735, increased by 49.1% compared with 493 in 2009. The rapid growth of such applications is a significant indication of the enhanced IP implementation capacity and the strengthened international competitiveness.
