National EC demonstration cities urged to stress on IPR development

2011/12/20

Beijing and 20 other cities were recently recognized as national e-commerce demonstration cities after eight central government departments, including the National Development and Reform Commission, the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine and the Ministry of Finance, jointly issued an approval document, in which those cities were also required to stress on IPR capacity building and demonstrate the active role of IPR in e-commerce.

According to the requirements, IPR can not only provide a foundation and guarantee for a healthy development of e-commerce, but can also serve as a new approach to fortify the competitiveness of those cities, which should thus make full play of their advantages in e-commerce to enhance their economic influence and attraction, reduce resources and energy consumption and cultivate green economy. Meanwhile, the 21 cities were also urged to promote strategic emerging industries via IPR and improve the development environment of e-commerce by adopting new technologies, such as the Internet of Things, cloud computing and mobile Internet.
