Public security organs at all levels in Jilin province have achieved periodical results during the special campaign against IPR infringement and counterfeiting. Up to now, the organs have uncovered 1,886 cases related to IPR infringement and production and sales of counterfeit goods, involving 760 million yuan; and seized 1,195 suspects and arrested 208 of them.

Fake medicine is the focus of the crackdown campaign. Police found 19 batches of fake and counterfeit medicines in 17 provinces and 39 cities (prefectures), seized 22 suspects, confiscated 6,268 boxes of fake drugs and helped enterprises avoid direct economic losses of 17 million yuan and indirect economic losses of 50 million yuan.

On November 4, 2011, police seized 4 criminals suspected of producing and selling fake medicines, destroyed 1 fake medicine production spot located in Huzhou city of Zhejiang, and confiscated more than 100 sets of manufacturing equipment used to produce fakes. Such cases are valued at 100 million yuan.

Among the 1,886 cases uncovered by Jilin public security organs, there are 61 cases with each valued at above 5 million yuan and 218 cases with each valued between 1 million yuan and 5 million yuan. A total of 4,372 counterfeit production spots have been destroyed and 82 criminal gangs have been dismantled.
