China Seizes 52 mln Copies of Illegal Publications in 2011

Law enforcement authorities seized a total of 52 million pirated, pornographic and illegal publications in 2011, according to figures revealed by the National Office Against Pornographic and Illegal Publications on Thursday.

Authorities investigated approximately 18,000 related cases in 2011, including 10,932 cases of intellectual property rights infringement and 1,717 violations of anti-pornography laws, according to the office.

An total of 1.8 million online posts containing lewd information were taken offline in 2011, the office said.

In 2010, China confiscated a total of 44.37 million pirated, pornographic and illegal publications.
