The 1st China LED IP Summit kicked off

2012/02/23

The first China LED IP Summit was held on February 20, 2012 at the Pazhou Complex in Guangzhou, China. The Summit was co-located with the 8th Guangzhou International LED Exhibition - the largest LED event in the world - and hosted by UBM Group. The Summit was to provide a communication platform for insiders and enhance the impact it could have on the LED industry.

China's LED industry is seeing an increase in demand, so is the number of overseas lawsuits faced by Chinese LED enterprises. Meanwhile, a number of essential patents for LED whitelight are about to expire, which marks the threshold of a whole new era for LED titans to redefine their market share. Therefore, to cope with the upcoming changes, businesses and government are coming together to help domestic LED enterprises to gain protection by making use of maturing technology and innovation.

China LED IP Summit was born under such a focus. The guest speakers includes IP officials and senior executives from top LED companies including Mr. Gregory Baque, Senior Director of Intellectual Property, Philips, China; Mr. Mike McLean, Senior Vice President of UBM TechInsights; Ms. Wang Ningling, Partner, Finnegan. The IP Summit includes sessions on government policy, patent landscaping and a legal case study to help the audience to understand the LED industrial environment. The audiences are exposed to presentations that highlight global patenting trends and offer tips for IP strategy development.

The Summit held in Guangzhou - China's largest LED industry base - was to welcome insiders from the frontline, including corporate counsels, IP professionals, executives, product managers, chief technology officers and technical managers. The half-day conference advances attendees' knowledge and understanding and arouses their hope for China's LED industry.
