CPPCC Deputy: IPR on copyrighted music needed legislative protection

2012/03/09

Over the past few years, there has been an increasing trend of music digitization. Instead of the music creators, the ISPs turned out to be the beneficiaries of the move, said CPPCC deputy Xu Peidong in an interview on March 4. He also expressed his concern about the dampened enthusiasm of music owners under the circumstance where no related legislations were enforced to protect intellectual property rights.

Nowadays, artists in culture industries have greatly benefited from active and positive state policies, while consumers are called on to pay more respect to inventions and innovations in this area.

"There is still a long way to go for music copyright protection," said Xu.
