2012/04/17

Tian Lipu, Commissioner of the State Intellectual Property Office (SIPO), met with the delegation led by the Commissioner of Singapore Intellectual Property Office Chen Yishan in Beijing on April 12. It is the first time for Chen Yishan to visit the SIPO after he took office of the Singapore IPO. The two sides exchanged views on further cooperation between both offices and discussed concerning issues on intellectual property development.

At the beginning of the meeting, both parties introduced the latest development of intellectual property in the two countries.

Tian said that Asia has a potential prospect of intellectual property production and consumption. With the development of international IP regulations, countries in the continent should double efforts to participate in the process of formulating those regulations and make themselves weigh more in the process.

Chen agreed with Tian and hoped China could play an important role in this regard. Chen also appreciated China's valuable experiences in patent reviewing and quality administrating and expressed the desire to enhance the mutual cooperation and communication in a bid to improve their capability in this area.

The two sides also discussed on issues including the patent prosecution highway program and the cooperation on patent information sharing.
