Invention patents held by every ten thousand residents in Guilin hit up to 1.39

Guilin, a city in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, saw its year-to-date invention patent filings hit 341, up 70.5%, with 1.39 invention patents held by every ten thousand residents in the city, ranking 1st in the region.

In a bid to stimulate innovations and patent applications, Guilin has established and released a Program on Increasing Invention Patents and revised the Interim Measures on Subsidizing and Awarding Patent Applications. The city also made efforts in attracting prestigious patent agencies to establish their affiliates in Guilin. Currently, the public competence in creation and innovation has been significantly increased.

In addition, the city has sped up the commercialization of invention patents in many major high tech projects in key sectors such as bio-pharmaceutics, equipment manufacturing, automobiles and auto parts. Jointly developed by the GLESI, Guilin University of Technology and Guilin Bus Industrial Group, a project on core technology of new energy vehicle power system is expected to generate 50 million yuan worth of output value each year, and manufacture as many as 1,000 such vehicles, accounting for over 80% of the total market share in Guangxi.
