HTC's people have gotten in contact with T3, telling us that they've not yet recieved a formal complaint from Nokia, despite reports suggesting the Finnish firm is in the midst of launching a patent lawsuit against them.

HTC's statement reads: “We have not received a complaint from Nokia and won't have any comments until our legal team has received and reviewed it.”

So, does this mean the reports earlier today were all cock and balls, or is Nokia simply waiting for the right time? We'll keep you updated as and when we find out.

Original story: If the Apple vs Samsung, Google and everyone else legal catfight has taught us anything it's that lawsuits are messy business. Rather messy. And, according to a new report, the smartphone sector is about to witness a whole new beef.

Nokia is rumoured to be prepping a lawsuit following the launch of HTC's new Windows 8-based handsets, the 8X and 8S, which the firm believes bare a canny resemblance to its Nokia Lumia 820 handset.

The report comes from PC-Tablet.com, via unnamed sources, which claims that the Finnish firm is in the midst of cooking up a patent dispute with Taiwan-based HTC.

It states: "The reports are saying Nokia is preparing to get HTC 8X banned in various parts of the world from going on sale when it will launch in November.

"Nokia has said in reports that the front-face of HTC 8X looks identically same as of the Lumia 820 followed by side-curves of the phone body."The news comes just days after Nokia's EVP of sales and marketing, Chris Weber, launched a scathing Twitter attack on HTC, tweeting: "It takes more than matching color to match the innovation of the Lumia 920."
