Sichuan: Yibin released its Twelfth Five-Year Plan on Trademark Strategies

Recently, Yibin approved the Twelfth Five-Year Plan on Trademark Strategies which was drafted by the Municipal Administration for Industry and Commerce.

Under the Plan, the Administration is required to establish a sound and smooth system in cultivating, managing, utilizing and protecting trademarks, and create a favorable environment where trademark applications will be timely reviewed and registered trademarks will be fairly used and strongly protected.

In addition, the Administration is expected to promote trademarks and brands of service or products which have great national or international competitiveness, and facilitate the integration of trademark strategies and local economic development strategies.

Furthermore, the Administration should focus on the cultivation of well-known trademarks in industrial cluster areas and technology-led fields, make full use of the positive role of those marks in upgrading of traditional industries and the development of new emerging industries, formulate and implement trademark strategies to support the development of key industries and regions.

Meanwhile, reports on trademark development should be periodically delivered as a reference for policy makers and local enterprises.

Yibin government also urged its subordinates to highlight the implementation of trademark strategies and include indicators such as trademark applications and grants into their performance evaluation.

The Plan also assigned several departments as leading authorities in a bid to effectively promote the implementation of trademark strategies.
