The 6th China Patent Week will further enhance IP protection

On November 20, the State Intellectual Property Office (SIPO) held a press release in Beijing on 2012 6th China Patent Week, announcing that the theme for the patent week will be Patent Protects Innovation and Wisdom Changes and the activity will simultaneously go on from November 29 to December 5 in different places across the country. Moreover, the patent week this time will focus on the long-term IP protection mechanism to further enhance IP protection in China.

It is informed that the 6th China Patent Week was hosted by SIPO and the supportive agencies are comprised of 30 central departments, 31 people’s governments and Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps. The main meeting place is located in Nanjing City, Jiangsu Province and the branch halls will be in each province, district and municipality across the country.

According to Vice Head of SIPO’s Patent Administration Department Lei Xiaoyun, the goal of the patent week is to deeply carry out patent strategy, fully exert the driving role of patent system to national economic development, cultivate industrial independent IP, promote the construction of national innovative system, improve the patent awareness of the whole society and create a sound social atmosphere for invention and creation as well as the protection of intellectual achievements. During the patent week, the special campaign against IP violation and the manufacture and distribution of shoddy goods will be launched across the nation. Besides, patent enforcement and right safeguarding activities will also be organized in some provinces.

Compared with last patent weeks, this time, the activity range will be enlarged and more attention will be given to ecological civilization development. Meanwhile, the patent week this year will also concentrate on the development of strategic emerging industries, enterprise IP management standardization and high-end use of patent information to promote the transformation and upgrading of enterprises and industries.
