First Guangdong-Macao IP Agency Exchange Activity launched

Jointly hosted by Guangdong Provincial Intellectual Property Office and the Intellectual Property Section under Macao Economic Bureau and undertaken by Guangdong Patent Agent Association, the first Guangdong-Macao IP Agency Exchange Activity was launched on December 4. Head of the Discipline Inspection Group under Guangdong Provincial IPO Yan Xiaoyi and Director of the IP Section under Macao Economic Bureau Zheng Xiaomin attended and delivered the activity. 45 in all participated in the activity inclusive of represent persons from IP agencies and administrative departments in Guangdong and Macao.

According to Yan Xiaoyi, Guangdong and Macao have been maintaining a sound cooperation relationship in IP area. The activity today established a platform for IP agencies in the two places. Yan hoped the two sides could deepen and expand their cooperation in a bid to do more to the IP development.

Zheng Xiaomin expressed that the activity was close to agency practice and expected the two sides could master the valuable chance to exchange ideas, enlarge cooperative range and jointly promote innovation in the two places.

Later, represent persons from Macao IP agencies visited several agencies in Guangdong Province and exchanged views over the IP systems and agencies in Guangdong and Macao. The represent persons all expressed that they desired to have more opportunities to exchange work.

In March 2011, the People’s Government of Guangdong and Macao SAR signed Guangdong-Macao Cooperative Framework Agreement. To carry out the said agreement, the two sides set up IP work group and organized the first meeting on May 10, 2012. At the meeting, Guangdong and Macao signed Guangdong-Macao IP Cooperative Memorandum and fixed Guangdong-Macao IP Cooperative Plan (2012~2014). The first Guangdong-Macao IP Agency Exchange Activity was the first cooperative project launched after the Memorandum and laid good foundation for the IP cooperation between Guangdong and Macao.
