2012/12/17

On December 6, the State Intellectual Property Office (SIPO) and the European Patent Office (EPO) officially kick-started the patent Chinese-English machine translation service in Brussels, capital city of Belgium. Tian Lipu, Commissioner of the SIPO and Beno?t Battistelli, President of the EPO, jointly attended the opening ceremony.

Tian said the service, as a successful example of cooperation between SIPO and EPO, marks a milestone of bilateral cooperation. It will help European users overcome language barriers and swiftly acquire richer technology information, further promote communication and exchanges between Chinese and European science cultures, and eventually serve global innovation development. In addition, Tian also introduced the latest developments of China's intellectual property business to present Chinese and European patent users.

The patent document Chinese-English machine translation service covers patent documents in two of the world's most-widely used languages, and greatly helps Chinese and European innovators and patent users grasp global patent document information in both Chinese and English. That will further promote development of innovations in China and Europe.
