Guangdong reinforces patent protection at trade fairs

2012/12/27

Guangdong Province issued Measures on Patent Protection at Trade Fairs this year, which is the first provincial regulation across the country that provides specific requirements on patent protection at exhibitions and trade fairs.

The document, which came into force officially on October 15, has summarized and written down many of the Province's successful experience and practices these years. It stipulates that exhibition organizers shall sign contracts with exhibitors to clarify each other's obligations and reinforce patent review and protection during the events.

In case of any patent infringement disputes arising during trade fairs or exhibitions, right holders or stakeholders can turn to IP help desks set on site or to patent administrations, or can directly file complaints to court, as provided by the document.

A specialized seminar has been held by Shantou Municipal IP office to better promulgate the Measures.
