Samsung claimed two billion KRW from LG as infringement compensation

According to Korean media, the legal battle between Samsung and LG has recently upgraded as Samsung brought LG to a Korean court, claiming that LG has infringed seven of its patents on plane-to-line switching technology and seeking two billion won as compensation.

Back to September, LG Display, an affiliate to LG, filed a lawsuit against Samsung, contending that Samsung's OLED screen of Galaxy series infringed its patent and demanding 6.26 million dollars as compensation. Soon in November, Samsung filed a counterclaim on the grounds that LG stole their OLED technology and charged several LG employees with theft.

The market is gradually saturated with LED screens nowadays, when appliance giants start to exert gigantic efforts in promoting OLED screens to expand market share, which directly leads to those fierce patent wars, said industry insiders.
