Chongqing to launch a new IP pilot program

2013/01/30

After 82 businesses were recognized as Chongqing IP pilot enterprises (the third batch) last year, the fourth batch is now open for application, and this time, also accessible to colleges and research institutions.

Patent is said to be a key indicator in the assessment of high-tech and innovative enterprises. Those who successfully join the pilot program can enjoy a series of favorable policies, in addition to rights defense services and patent information retrieval at zero cost.

Pilot enterprises, if they are export-oriental, will also benefit from an "IP surveillance service" provided by the program which will enable their patents to be monitored all the time. For example, they will be properly warned if there is a high risk that their products might infringe others' IP rights after export and therefore avoid suffering from huge economic loss.

Besides, free advisory service under the program will help those enterprises make a more pointed move in technical innovation and market exploration.

The deadline for the application is March 10, before which, IP offices at district and county level as well as bureaus for SME affairs can both name candidates.

The name list of the fourth batch will be published after being thoroughly reviewed by Chongqing IP Office and the municipal SME bureau. The new pilot program will last two years.
