Copyright registrations in Shanghai soaring

2013/02/21

As shown by statistics from Shanghai Copyright Service Center, in 2012, there were 70,641 copyright registrations for works, accounting for 10.27% of the total amount across China and ranking the 3rd nationally, in which, 3,886 were on written works, 5,448 on arts, 139 on musical works, 57 on graphs, 165 on video works, 60,355 on photographs, 444 on audio works and 147 on others.

The city attributed the significant growth to the establishment of a platform on registering and protecting copyrights. In particular in the digital era, a large number of digital works are in bad need of proper protection. Therefore, such a platform in place has been significantly helpful by providing services on registering, protecting and searching copyrights.
