2013/04/17

Zhongguancun Science Park, a high-tech national innovation park based in Beijing, recently was approved as one of 10 "national intellectual property right demonstration parks" by the State Intellectual Property Office (SIPO), reported Zhongguancun's official website.

Intellectual property rights work in Zhongguancun has been receiving support from the SIPO and the Beijing Intellectual Property Bureau. The IPR environment has made great progress in the science park as Zhongguancun-based enterprises are raising their IPR protection sense and attracting more high-end IPR talent.

IPR trade volume has been growing year-on-year in the science park. In the meantime, companies in the park also improved their IPR application, protection, and management abilities.

In 2012 alone, Zhongguancun-based enterprises applied for 28,159 patents, an increase of 28.8 percent year-on-year, among which 15,407 were authorized by the SIPO, a year-on-year increase of 22.4 percent.

The number of patent application cases in Zhongguancun Science Park is expected to reach 30,000 after it exceeded 20,000 in 2011.
