2013/05/17

In a bid to promote corporate innovations on technology and intellectual property outputs, since 2011, Hebei Provincial Intellectual Property Office has selected 1,600 enterprises in its economic and technological development zones and industrial parks at national and provincial levels as pilot entities to conduct a five-year program to stimulate them to file their first-ever patent application. Statistics show that in 2012, as many as 404 such enterprises submitted 915 patent applications, increasing from 326 enterprises with 633 applications in 2011, up 23.9% and 44.6% respectively.

Departments on science and technology, intellectual property and business in the province as well as local authorities have coordinated with each other to promote the smooth implementation of the program, particularly for small and micro-sized enterprises. Pilot enterprises have also been guided to file applications on their new products and technologies and been educated on how to protect their patents and avoid market risks. Furthermore, a group of 11 patent agencies were organized to provide consulting services to those enterprises in various ways.
