Recently, the Loft industrial design zone in Taicang has been evaluated as an important base for enlarging industrial designs, earning a leading role across the entire province. The development of industrial designs contributes to the upgrade of enterprises and the promotion of the service industry. Furthermore, it also helps in establishing Taicang as a model of modern construction for all of southern Jiangsu. Based on this, the government has published a series of incentive policies, including offering allowances to some potential enterprises regarding rent, tax and patent applications.

As the first base for industrial designs, Loft is supported by some successful teams, which have won awards in several competitions. The purpose of Loft is to help customers upgrade intermediate products into terminal products. The same product with the same function and cost, if designed differently, will really make a difference.

There have been 73 enterprises running industrial designs and 39 top design companies and commissions from both abroad and home that have settled in the zone in the last four years after opening. The government believes that Taicang will be a center for industrial designs, which will also stimulate the industry across the whole province.
