Hunan: Patent filings exceeding 40 thousand

Hunan saw its patent applications and grants in 2013 hit 41,336 and 24,392, up 15.76% and 5.08% respectively, in which grants on inventions got up to 3,613, up 7.75%. Invention patents in force in the province accumulated to 14,195, ranking 11th in China.


Among patent applicants, academies contributed the most with their applications and grants growing by 51.89% and 37.9% separately.


Hunan Intellectual Property Office also announced a list of top applicants among enterprises and research institutions.


Invention patents in force per every ten thousand residents increased from 1.72 in 2012 to 2.15 in 2013, fulfilling the target set in the Twelfth Five-Year Plan ahead of time with Changsha holding an average of 13.75, Zhuzhou 3.45 and Xiangtan 2.81.
