Forum on copyright of online media works held in Beijing

Recently, Copyright Society of China held “Forum on Copyright of Online Media Works” in which major issues were discussed, such as the copyright laws for the use of online media works, path for traditional media to maintain and safeguard its rights and interests. Wang Ziqiang, Director of Policy and Law Department of State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television stated, the current copyright law clearly stipulates authorization before employment for online copyright, which is a basic principle. Guo He, Professor from Renmin University of China held that although online media surpass traditional media in terms of innovation ability, all the innovation must be based on current rules. Repost of works must be authorized first, and the next step is to settle payment mechanism. Only in this way can win-win results be achieved.
