Hot discussions on the hierarchy of China’s intellectual property courts: Intermediate courts or the Supreme Court

Judicial reforms are now proceeding rapidly. On June 6th, the Central Reform Leading Group held its third meeting and passed Plans for Setting up Intellectual Property Courts. On July 7th, officials from the jurisprudential circle and judicial system held heated discussions on the plans of setting up intellectual property courts at the symposium jointly sponsored by Renmin University of China, Southwest University of Political Science and Law and China Intellectual Property Law Association on the reality and future of the construction of the intellectual property courts in China. The jurisprudential circle discussed on the hierarchy of the intellectual property courts, which could achieve the consistency of the judgment on the similar intellectual property cases. According to the plans, three intermediate-level intellectual property courts will be set up respectively in Beijing, Shanghai and Guangdong.
