INTA | Seminar on “Building Brands Abroad in the 21st Century” Successfully held in Beijing

On January 22nd, International Trademark Association (INTA) held a seminar themed with “Building Brands Abroad in the 21st Century” in Beijing. Mr. Etienne Sanz de Acedo, INTA’s Chief Executive Officer, Mr. J.Scott Evans, 2015 INTA President and Mr. Seth Hays, INTA’s China Chief Representative presented and gave remarks at the seminar.


Focused on Chinese corporation that seek to build strong brands outside China, the program started with the practical aspects and business decision of building brand capabilities that lead to the need for international registration. Trademark owners can face serious threats to international expansion through instances of bad-faith registration, which only increase as squatters become aware of up-and coming brands through the internet and international travel. In conclusion, experts had “look forward” at the best practice, the challenges and opportunities for brands.


Experts from well-known companies such as Johnson & Johnson, Alibaba, Adobe, LeTV, representatives from organizations and associations such as WIPO, CTA, OHIM, QPBC, and lawyers from Hogan Lovells, WAN HUI DA, Simmons and Simmons, Anjie Law Firm shared their experience on the topics.


Besides such kind of seminars held in different countries, INTA holds its Annual Meeting every year. The Annual Meeting has already made its mark as the largest and most dynamic trademark event in the world, it is always on the top of the list of not-to-miss events for trademark practitioners. The 2015 Annual Meeting will be held from May 2nd to 6th in San Diego, U.S..As INTA’s official media partner, China IP journalists will go to San Diego to witness and report the distinguished event.
