2009/05/26

It is learnt from Tianjin Customs that the said Customs captured 136,200 hoods and reticules that infringed the usufruct of the trademarks including "NIKE"、"ADIDAS"、"MANCHESTER UNITED" among the goods exported to Tanzania, which was the most serious case related to trademark infringement investigated by Tianjin Customs in recent years.

It is informed that this batch of goods was declared as men shirts, cotton handkerchiefs and reticules. Tianjin Customs believed that these goods had high infringing risk and decided to inspect them after risk analysis. During the inspection course, the officers found a great deal of infringement goods among the textile commodities. Checked by right holders, these commodities were fake ones without authorization. According to PRC Customs Protection of Intellectual Property Rights Regulations, Tianjin Customs has detained this batch of goods.

In recent years, Tianjin Customs has been paying more attention to IP protection work and severely combated the infringing actions in the section of import and export. The Customs investigated many cases related to IP infringement and the total value exceeded 10 mln yuan. The infringing goods detained involved garments, trunks and bags, shoes and hats, raw materials of textile, industrial and farm tools, P.E. articles, etc.. Tianjin Customs protected 40 or more domestic export-oriented brands and more than 60 foreign famous brands by fighting against infringement actions.
