Zhejiang: Shaoxing County to Enhance ICH protection

To enhance the salvage and protection of the intangible cultural heritages (ICHs) in the whole county, Shaoxing County of Zhejiang Pronvice issued Opinions on Enhancing ICH Protection to intensify ICH protection by various kinds of means.

The Opinions defined to set up ICH protection organ, i.e. ICH Protection Center of Shaoxing County and Shaoxing Painting and Calligraphy Yue House. Meanwhile, the financial departments of Shaoxing will deploy special funds for ICH protection each year. In 2009, the sum is 2 mln yuan. The special funds are mainly used to collect materials and objects of ICHs, save endangered ICHs, subsidize typical inheritors and entities (bases) of ICHs, exhibit ICHs, and publicize, train, and study ICHs.

Nowadays, Shaoxing County has investigated 1,660 or more ICH projects, of which 46 were listed as protection projects at city level, 5 were included in the protection list at province level and 2 were on the protection list at state level. 2 inheritors were recognized as state level ICH inheritors.
