China’s Newly-developed Centrifugal Chiller Breaks European and American Monopoly

The million-kilowatt water-cooling centrifugal chiller for Nuclear Power plant developed independently by Gree Electric Appliances, Chinese air conditioning enterprise is identified to reach advanced world standards.

Experts of the National Energy Administration said that the achievement will help China to break the European and American monopoly on the core technology and pave the way for the production and exports of China’s homemade nuclear power equipment.

“The pump of the centrifugal chiller are independently researched and developed by Gree, so it has completed proprietary intellectual property right,” said Huang Li, Vice Director General of Technical Equipment Department of the National Energy Administration.

China enters a crucial period of developing nuclear power. China is constructing the third-generation nuclear power plant. The technology of refrigeration of nuclear power equipment used to be the bottleneck for the development of nuclear plants.
