A national engineering lab for the development and application of deep learning technology was unveiled by internet giant Baidu Inc on the early March, seeking breakthroughs in the fundamental sectors of artificial intelligence, including auditory and visual?perception and language comprehension. Co-founded by the company and top Chinese universities and academies including Tsinghua and Beihang, the lab was established to promote progress in the AI field and to facilitate cooperation with other parties in frontier research, said its head Lin Yuanqing.
