Mobike's Intelligent Lock Sued for Patent Infringement

2017/03/31

Shenzhen developer of entrance guard, Linglingkaimen, announced that it had filed a lawsuit against Beijing Mobike Technology Co., Ltd. (Mobike) for the latter’s infringement of multiple utility patents and claimed for administrative decision. At present, Beijing Intellectual Property Court and Beijing Intellectual Property Office have accepted the case. As Mobike advertised previously, intelligent lock is one of its highlights. The intelligent lock equipped with GPS can provide users the service of location reservation and complete the GPS charging in the process of riding, which solves the charging problem of the intelligent lock. Users can unlock the Mobike by only scanning the code. This is also an advantage promoted by Mobike, when competing with its rival — ofo. After searching China and Global Patent Examination Information Inquiry of SIPO, 32 patents application of Mobike were found, of which the majority are related with Mobike’s frame, brake etc. and 5 are related with Mobike’s lock including 2 utility model patents, 1 design patent and 2 invention patents pending on the substantive examination. This seems like the contrary to the charge of Linglingkaimen.
