JPO Conducted Training Course on Patent Examinations (Basic Program)

Under the aim of strengthening the protection of intellectual property rights in order to support developing countries with the development of human resources, the Japan Patent Office (JPO) has been inviting trainees from developing and emerging countries of the Asia-Pacific region, Latin America, and Africa, and conducting training programs for them in Japan.
From June 29 to July 7, the JPO conducted the Training Course on Patent Examinations (Basic Program), and 14 trainees such as patent examiners from 12 countries attended the Course. In this training course, the trainees deepened their knowledge on the subject of Japanese examination practices through lectures of case studies by a patent examiner in the JPO. In addition, trainees exchanged information concerning patent system in each country. The JPO has high expectations that the trainees will play important and active roles in their countries.
