JPO Agreed on Memorandum of Cooperation (MOC) to Expand Cooperation with INPI of Brazil

On August 1, President Pimentel of the National Institute of Industrial Property (INPI) of Brazil visited the Japan Patent Office (JPO) and had a meeting with Commissioner Munakata of the JPO.
At the meeting, they signed a new Memorandum of Cooperation aiming at expanding bilateral cooperation in the field of industrial property that includes cooperation in the Patent Prosecution Highway (PPH) started between the JPO and the INPI since April 2017 and cooperation on substantive examination. Furthermore, they also agreed to further strengthen the close partnership between the both Offices.
The JPO will continue to further make efforts, in cooperation with the INPI, to establish the environment in which Japanese companies can obtain IP rights smoothly and the IP rights are protected property in Brazil.
