JPO Conducted Training Course for IP Protection Lawyers

Under the aim of strengthening the protection of intellectual property rights in order to support developing countries with the development of human resources who engage in the industrial property rights system, the Japan Patent Office (JPO) has been inviting trainees from developing and emerging countries of the Asia-Pacific region, Latin America, and Africa, and conducting training programs for them in Japan.
From July 19 to August 4, the JPO conducted the Training Course for IP Protection Lawyers, and a total of 22 judges, lawyers specialized in intellectual property and patent attorneys from 11 countries attended the course. In this course, the trainees learned the methods of judging IP infringement, and appeal/trial cases on the infringement of IP rights, etc. as well as visited a company and the Intellectual Property High Court, in order to enhance their expertise as legal professionals involved in IP rights.
