BRICS Strategic Framework for Customs Cooperation signed

On September 4, under the witness of BRICS leaders including Chinese President Xi Jinping, the GACC Head and the customs heads and representatives of other BRICS countries signed the BRICS Strategic Framework for Customs Cooperation. Under this framework, “mutual exchange of information, mutual recognition of supervision and mutual assistance in law enforcement” are adopted as the principles of customs cooperation among BRICS countries. The priorities of cooperation between BRICS countries cover such fields as trade facilitation, security and law enforcement, emerging matters, capacity building and position coordination within the multilateral frameworks.
On Security and law enforcement, the Strategic Framework states that the customs in BRICS will strengthen information exchanges, carry out joint enforcement actions in the fields of common concern, intensify law-enforcement cooperation between BRICS customs and international organizations as well as with other stakeholders, and deepen cooperation on risk control.
